MAKING A WAY
John Lewis (1940-2020) politician and civil-rights activist wrote:
“Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way.”
I never cared much for his politics but I did admire his courage and relentless pursuit of equality for racial issues. He truly lived this ideal: “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” He was arrested and beaten and jailed many times for his non-violent protests of racism.
I appreciated his hope and courage of, “We will find a way to make a way out of no way.” We could use a good dose of that in these discouraging times for many. The way is the Kingdom way and not the other way.
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus
