LIP GROOVES
Lip Grooves is a situation that is noticed when drinking hot coffee or hot tea. As one takes a sip of coffee there is a small rivulet, or drop, that slides through your lip groove and goes down the outside of your cup forming a little droplet at the bottom that can drip on to your hand, your lap or to the front of your shirt.
The causes of Lip Grooves are various. Most come from the way one puckers their lips to try and blow air to cool off the coffee or tea. Most people turn their lips in a downturned position to blow and this can cause permanent Lip Grooves over time. If the lips are in an upturned position to blow cool air one is less likely to get Lip Grooves. The other main cause is to not train your mouth for good lip suction and positioning to the cup edge properly and thus eventually a Lip Groove is formed that can leak little drops down your cup. The other way many get Lip Grooves is by having old lips that have naturally cracked and grooved with all the other skin.
There is hope for this Lip Groove dilemma. You might just want to hold a napkin under your cup to catch the drops, as you drink which is obviously not a very cool or permanent solution. Or, one can go to a Lip Surgeon and have the groove removed, repaired or sewn shut. The other option is to get a Botox treatment to fill in the lip groove (and maybe other cracking parts). All of this is just good stuff to know.
No, really… this is what happens.
