KEEP IT CLEAN
Don Aslett (1935-2024) entrepreneur, author and speaker lived a life promoting ‘clean’ both as a business and philosophy.
Aslett started a cleaning business while in college to help pay his tuition. The company, later renamed Varsity Contractors, expanded to employ 500 people across three states, offering janitorial, facilities services, construction, and landscaping services. The company was renamed Varsity Facility Services in 2011. By 2013, the company employed 4,000 people, had offices in all 50 states and Canada, and sold green products in six states. Varsity Facility Services is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Aslett was a devout Mormon. He made over five thousand TV and public appearances to promote ‘clean.’
His passion to promote cleanliness led him to build the ‘Museum of Clean’ in Pocatello, Idaho. The ultimate mission and vision of the Museum of Clean is to tell the idea and value of clean, to put clean into the minds of all who visit. Aslett said, “We want to expand the scope of clean into areas like clean homes, clean minds, clean language, clean community, and a clean world.” While most museums have a single subject focus, this one is far beyond that. Clean dominates the value of everything that affects life—like clean air, clean water, clean language, clean beds, floors, politics, jokes, arteries, teeth… and how about clean art?”
It’s a good idea to Keep it Clean…
“Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence! You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too.” Jesus
