JOY OF YOUR PRESENCE
Still thinking of some considerations from yesterday’s Journal entry: He Is Alive. Because of the promise of eternal life in the presence of the Trinity, we can rejoice. Eternal life starts when we are born, not when we die and ‘go somewhere.’ David said it well:
“I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
(Psalm 16:9-11)
Peter preached this exact verse in Acts of the Apostles 2:25-27 on the Day of Pentecost and added, “David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave.” We also read from Paul, “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (died).” (1 Corinthians 15:20) Jesus said, “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.” (John 14:19)
“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” Jesus
