GLIMPSING OUR CULTURE
Perhaps it is because of better, open and constant access to news of our cultural condition, that we are so aware of the many things going on around us. Some of it is heart breaking and difficult and of course some more uplifting and full of hope.
For example some of these things are happening before our eyes: homelessness, hunger, both vocal and physical abuse, loneliness, broken families, separated siblings, disease and sickness without proper medical care, lack of quality time with family, abandonment, lack of support and proper care, unstable living from place to place, difficulty living in small spaces without proper water and food, repeated unwanted pregnancies, orphaned, unsanitary conditions, living without provision, living without needed vaccinations, spread of disease, fear, suffering, pain, drugged intentionally to be kept quiet, basic neglect, violence and cruelty.
All of these are just examples of the suffering experienced by animals that are in an Animal Shelter.
What’s going on with people is even more shocking. What a list that could be. Part of the ‘Kingdom coming to earth’ is the care of the creation and animals as well as people.
There is some good news: “Nearly 70% of cats in shelters from July to Sept. 2023 were adopted.
Nearly 54% of dogs in shelters from July to Sept. 2023 were adopted. Adoptions increased by 5.8% in Jan. to Sept. 2023 versus the same period in 2021.” (Shelter Animals Count)
