DOING WHAT THEY DO
It is always amazing to me the deferential position Jesus takes in his teaching and works. He appears to always push away compliments, the spotlight and others trying to make him into a big shot. The push is to get us, and those he dealt with, to see and glorify the Father. In John 5:19-21; 26 we read:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will… For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.”
So our key must be that whatever we see, hear, know and believe about Jesus and what he did and does… we must do as well. That’s our pattern. If we do what the Father and Son are doing we will be like them. This will bring glory to the Father. (Matthew 5:16)
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Jesus
