CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY
Cultural Christianity is quickly becoming a religion of the past… an ancient religion. By cultural I mean a Christianity that is modeled after the customs and institutions of the times in which we live. And by comparison it would not necessarily be modeled after scriptural precedent.
It is common now to read and hear the term ‘post-Christian.’ Post means past or after. It is something that used to be. Now, it is referred to many times as something that was basically superstition, if not silly, and emotional… even childish. Our culture has taken religion and made it a ward of the state and a ward of the court. What the society and court systems decide is what we are expected to believe and practice. Anything other than this is ‘illegal’ or unacceptable.
This is the manifestation of man in his self-deified position thinking he is wiser than God. Sorry, but some of us don’t buy it, won’t buy it and won’t go along with it. I do not care for cultural Christianity and don’t intend to practice it but I do intend to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and follow his teachings as best as I can. I will not appeal to politics and courts as to how I might live. But I will appeal only to scripture and the Holy Spirit.
“You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men… “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!” Jesus
