CONFLICTING GOSPEL
The gospel of the Kingdom is conflicted when we dualistically try to live with two opposing views at the same time. For example: It is hard to carry unforgiveness and the Cross at the same time. Or, to live with a critical, cynical, negative attitude and try to promote faith at the same time. Or, to want justice and equality, and still fight internal racism, xenophobia, misogyny or misandry at the same time.
One of the greatest truths of the Good News of Jesus and the Gospel of the Kingdom is learning to come clean and live without dualistic thoughts and behaviors. The hidden and well-worn paths that form mental habits that are not pure can cause great conflict. It might take a long time to accomplish but that is our call in searching for a clean heart.
As Abraham Maslow (1908-1970) American Psychologist wrote: “You will either step forward into growth or step backward into safety.”
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Jesus
