BEING DIFFERENT
There is a stigma about being a devoted follower of Jesus. Many followers resent this and often try to ‘fit in’ with those who are not like them. However, this difference is promised as part of the package when we accept Christ and turn away from some of the world’s practices and philosophies: “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.” (Matthew 5:11-12)
Don’t be afraid of being different; be afraid of being the same as everyone else.
I’m headed over to the other side of the pond to have some Cuban Coffee and Apple Crisp and try to be comfortable in my difference with my different coffee.
“What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” Jesus
