AS HE IS
The apostle John wrote, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he is revealed, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.” We are going to be like Jesus and we shall see him as he is. What an exciting thought and promise! As he is… so shall we be.
Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) wrote, “Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you.” In this simple but brilliant prayer is the pattern for “being like him and seeing him as he is.” A mind to know him, a heart to seek him, wisdom to find him, conduct pleasing to him, faithful waiting for him and the hope of finally embracing him.
Father, I desire that they also whom you gave me may be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory which you have given me; for you loved me before the foundation of the world. Jesus
