A DAY WELL SPENT
What is ‘a day well spent’? Quiet, silence, solitude, a party, finish the term paper, progress at the gym, making the deal, a walk with your lover, to complete writing code, eating a cinnamon roll… I suppose some or all of these might be a day well spent.
Kate Bowler, professor and author wrote:
“Give up on good, better, best.
Ground yourself in what is true.”
She also wrote:
“Our culture loves to tell us to look on the bright side. Think positively! Good vibes only! Mindset is everything! But in my research, I have found that there are significant limitations of this “positive thinking” approach. We often bulldoze over real feelings and real problems. We end up with less compassion for one another and fewer opportunities to be honest.”
It appears to me that a Day Well Spent is to honor the Lord in some way, walk in truth with others and our self and stay aware of opportunities to be honest about all of it.
Then again, I’m headed over to the other side of the Pond to make sure that my day is well spent on some Cuban Coffee and Apple Scones with Caramel Drizzle while spending my last thoughts on a day well spent.
“Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own worries. The troubles we have in a day are enough for one day.” Jesus
