CHRIST AND MAN

Louis Evely wrote, “A sage has said that Christians have so far understood half of Christianity. They have understood that God and Christ are the same thing. But they have not yet understood that Christ and man are the same thing. That Christ is still man now and is in every man. That the incarnation of Christ in a particular human nature, had but preceded and earned his incarnation, let us say his penetration, his solidarity with all humanity. There is no man untouched by the incarnation of Christ, by the influence of Christ. He “enlightens every man who comes into the world.” In every man God lives and waits to be discerned in order to grow in him. This is your Christian faith. God lives in every man and we look for him in the clouds.”

John, an apostle wrote, “By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God… In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (Or, the means, the sacrifice of Christ, by which our sins are removed).

The wonderful news of the incarnate Christ is that his sacrifice is not exclusive. John says earlier, “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” That is all-inclusive… Glory to God!
