FULLY DRESSED
Paul, an apostle, wrote to the church at Ephesus: “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” (Ephesians 6:10-11).
He then lists the seven pieces of the armor in 6:14-18:
The Belt of Truth
The Breastplate of Righteousness
The Gospel of Peace
The Shield of Faith
The Helmet of Salvation
The Sword of the Spirit
Prayer
An important understanding of the Armor of God is realizing that in Christ we are Fully Dressed. We don’t get up each morning and clunk around putting on a full outfit trying to get ready to become a prepared soldier. However, we do need to get up and be aware that we are clothed with spiritual armor to fight a spiritual battle (6:11-12). It’s what I call: Activate the Armor. Prayer in the Spirit (v.18) fastens and buckles all the pieces in place.
The battle is clearly revealed: “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (6:11-12) Time to kick some butt.
“Because of your faith, it will happen.” Jesus
