HE IS THE ALL
We must assume that something greater than ourselves controls the workings of the universe, the rhythms of solar systems with the sun, moon and stars; the exact effects of the tide, the rains that water the earth, the sun that gives life to all things… year by year, day by day and minute by minute. There must be a master-mind behind it all.
In the Book of Sirach 43:25, we read, “By his word all things hold together. We could say more but could never say enough; let the final word be: “He is the all.” The master-mind is the Lord. It is strictly an act of faith as we fathom the mystery, “by his word all things hold together.” Who can talk like that? The universe must respond to this word. There can be no order, government or holding together of any kind unless that which has lesser authority obeys and submits to that with greater authority. It is “by a word” that the universe listens and obeys, that a child obeys a parent, a warrior obeys a commander, a player obeys a coach and a disciple obeys the Lord. By a word, we hear and obey and hold together. If for any reason a force greater than words is required for obedience, it will be forced obedience; which is sometimes necessary until we obey by listening only to words.
To the one who is greater in authority than all of us, “we could say more but could never say enough; let the final word be: “He is the all.”
Paul, an apostle wrote, “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17)
“All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Jesus
