TROUBLE IS…

Recently while in meditation I heard this word: ‘Trouble on the outside… there is trouble on inside.” I have heard this more than once. What develops and manifests on the outside of us (our exterior) is an extension of a behavior on the inside of us (interior). That appears to be simple enough, until we don’t understand why we do what we do when we do it. That is, if we trouble ourselves to process such things.

The anger, the lack of patience, a critical spirit, resentment, rage, judgment, self-depreciation, name calling, ego protection…whatever. If there is trouble on the inside of us from whatever source or reason…there will be trouble on the outside of us.

What we are inside will float to the top… even if we are good at making a false showing to others. We know and they soon will what is pretense and what isn’t.

We are encouraged to become new by the Spirit of Jesus. We become new by being ‘born from above.’ Then we set out to be like the Beatitude people Jesus mentioned… poor in spirit, humble, broken in pride, merciful, and peacemakers. As our inside is re-made by the Spirit of God, our outside will follow.
