NOT LOSING HEART
There are some days when we feel like we are losing heart’, ‘wasting away’ and ‘full of troubles’ as Paul, an apostle, could certainly relate. He wrote:
“Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles
are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal.
(2 Corinthian 4:16-18)
It is often so difficult to see the other side of this scripture:
Inwardly we are renewed day by day
These are light and momentary troubles
We are achieving an eternal glory
Fix our eyes on what is unseen
What is seen is temporary
What is unseen is eternal
That’s a big stretch and switch on a bad day, but it is really the only way out of the ditch…when we are in the ditch. Without some glimpse of faith, the ditch is not temporary, but eternal. We can’t lose heart. We climb out and fight back. We lick your wounds and figure it out. Others are counting on it. Jesus is counting on it.
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.” Jesus
