WARRING STRATEGY
“And then we do well to heed the advice of one old preacher who often admonished his church with a simple phrase: Post the strongest soldiers at the weakest gate. When we know where the enemy is likely to attack, when we know where our defenses are weakest, we can prepare ourselves for the inevitable onslaught,” I read this somewhere in the past.
This may be true, but I have taught and believe that the enemy will often attack us where we are strong because we do not fortify those areas like we might fortify our weak areas. We let down our guard in areas of strength and assume we have them covered. The weak areas get strong cover and the enemy may ignore those because “the strongest soldiers are at the weakest gate.” We must be covering the strong gates just as carefully.
If, for example, we are weak in our will power to resist pornography, we need to truly build a strong defense against this temptation. And, if we are strong in our resistance of this issue… we would still be wise to keep a solid wall with full Reconnaissance and Special Forces ability to fight this enemy should it creep in.
“Therefore resolve in your hearts beforehand not to practice your defense. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your opponents will be able to neither refute nor resist.” Jesus
