PRACTICE RESURRECTION
I am still thinking on yesterday’s Journal entry on the Joyful Jesus and another thought came to me from something I read by Wendell Berry.
“So, friends, every day do something that won’t compute…Give your approval to all you cannot understand…Ask the questions that have no answers. Put your faith in two inches of humus that will build under the trees every thousand years. …Expect the end of the world. Laugh. Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts…Practice resurrection.”
(From: ‘Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front’)
I have read several of Berry’s books through the years and can say that the above quote is anything but flippant. It is an attempt to loosen it up a bit, chill dude, take a risk or two in the right direction, rather than perfection…walk by faith… give it a whirl. Try laughter. ‘Be joyful though you have considered the facts.’
To Practice Resurrection is surely to practice overcoming all things with joy… including death.
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” Jesus
