GIFTS AND GRACE
We must have the Holy Spirit gifts now to do things now. This in itself addresses our desperate need for the Holy Spirit’s help in our works. Our grace is completed by allowing for the constant environment of God in allowing Holy Spirit gifts to prepare us for His presence and equipping. Giving the same allowance for this environment of God by allowing the same Holy Spirit gifts to give His presence and equipping to our works can complete our works. If this does not happen we may have good works without grace in them that will soon turn into “dead works.”
As these processes persist in us, and in our works, we soon lose our private identity that may be attached to a Holy Spirit gift and attached as well to our works of grace. Only Jesus is significant and glorified at every rank, level and position. The Holy Spirit is clear in John’s gospel that His function is to glorify Jesus. We must assume then that as He gives His gifts to us there is certainly only the same intention of glorifying Jesus.
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come…He will glorify me.” Jesus
