AT HOME IN THE WORD

Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) To abide means to remain as in reference to a place, to continue to be present. To abide is to “dwell,” “remain,” “be present,” “not to depart” and to “be held and kept.”

It also has the obvious abiding place or dwelling place that both translate to home or where we live. So the Word, which is Jesus, and the written word, which is the words of God are ‘where we are to live.’ The encouragement is to keep on trusting, keep on living. Continue living in my word. Make your home in the Word. Like any home… it is only a home when we make it a home by living there.
