HOW TO FEEL BETTER
Recently as I started my day and wanted to ‘be real spiritual’ and think good thoughts, drink V8 Juice, meditate and pray… I was bummed, negative, unbelieving and could care-less about any of the ‘spiritual stuff.’ But as I became quiet, I remembered a text I memorized years ago. It is just right for a morning such as this.
Isaiah 41:10-13
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
(For years I only proclaimed verse 10 (above), but then I added 11-13, hey, situations change).
“See, all your angry enemies lie there,
confused and humiliated.
Anyone who opposes you will die
and come to nothing.
You will look in vain
for those who tried to conquer you.
Those who attack you
will come to nothing.
For I hold you by your right hand—
I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.”
This is how to feel better on Bummed Out Mornings. All those ‘angry enemies’ in verses 11-12 are within me and not from some other source and ‘will attack me and will come to nothing.’ Now I just need faith to believe what the Word says. I think I do. I’m going to the other side of the pond for more Cuban Coffee and to sit and listen.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” Jesus
