RESISTANCE TO THREAT

When there is a threat concerning bowing down it is just the opposite of how bowing and kneeling should be. When someone is made to bow down, whether to Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:4-5), or to Hitler, Mao, Stalin, the Queen or King, President, Preacher or Pontiff or Pimp, employer or teacher, coach or governor, or mate, there will be resistance. The resistance is in the will and the mind and emotions even if the body is bent double and bowed down. This is because bowing down is an issue of the heart. To even suggest, by way of threat, ‘someday every knee will bow’ is to miss the purpose in bowing down. It is an invitation, not a threat. And it is rare to see those who issue this warning in a bowing position themselves. This means they want to make sure others are in this position but not necessarily that they should be.

It is not the character of the Lord to demand that we bow down. It is not the purpose of the Lord that He threatens us and we threaten others into bowing down. It is, as it has always been, the Lord’s desire that we gladly and willfully fall down and worship Him. It thrills the heart of God to have a people who so love and respect and adore Him that we would dance, sing, shout and bow down in His presence. When His beauty overwhelms us, we will fall on our faces.
